About Us
Calistoga Cares Food Bank is an all volunteer community based 501(c)(3) non profit organization serving food insecure households of Calistoga on a bi-monthly basis. The Food Bank survives on the generosity of Calistoga residents and the greater Napa Valley as well as many small and large members of the local business community.
The History:
In the mid-1990’s Rosie Dunsford, a Calistoga resident and business owner, received a call from the St. Helena Food Pantry to inform her that a group of Calistoga women were riding the bus to St. Helena to access the food pantry offerings. Hence, the need began!
Martha Casselman, Calistoga resident, was appointed by Rose Dunsford to lead the charge. Together they created the Calistoga Cares Food Bank.
For several decades, the “Green Church”, now Brannon Center, located at 3rd and Washington Streets served as the base of operations. It was a perfect match as the “Green Church” had identified food insecurity as a priority which aligned with the Calistoga Cares Food Bank.
The Food Bank is presently located at the Tubbs Building at the Napa County Fairgrounds on North Oak Street in Calistoga.
